Associate Director, Strategic Global Alliance Management

Responsibilities:

The Associate Director, strategic global alliance management will be responsible for liaising with high strategic value Oncology R&D partners and maintaining seamless communication with the external collaborators.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with others on the External R&D team to develop and implement integrated strategy for key oncology partnerships and collaborations including the Partners of Choice Network
  • Responsible for operationalizing scientific reviews of external proposals and establishing governance framework to obtain scientific endorsement
  • Monitor alliance related activities and lead joint teams in resolving issues regarding effective communication, conflict or role clarification. Pro-actively anticipate risks and needs, and identify optimal solutions aligned with the Oncology Leadership strategy
  • Act as the single point of contact for scientific reviews for proposals received from Partners of Choice sites, aligning all external and internal stakeholders including but not limited to:
    • Overseeing the global site operations & maintenance of the alliances including improving process of submitting scientific collaborations, translational data management & sample acquisition, clinical operations
    • Responding to external inquiries and identifying the right internal stakeholders to address questions
    • Manage external relationships and scientific workflow for Partners of Choice sites.
    • Manage governance meetings with strategic partners
  • Collaborate with other functional areas within the early and late stage oncology organization
  • Run external engagement events including scientific exchanges
  • Prepare and deliver external presentations; work with internal project and portfolio teams to gather presentation
  • Actively participate in creating community of partnership excellence and  in activities that embed partnering best practices across the company
  • Contribute to the Portfolio view of partnerships in Oncology
  • Contribute to internal R&D gap analysis and gathering of strategic and scientific questions to address with external partners

Qualifications & Requirements:

  •  Minimum Master's Degree (preferably in sciences) with 5+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry
  • Direct alliance management experience in pharmaceutical industry with global experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Oncology drug development strategy and process
  • Proven experience in Alliance/partnership excellence; experience building, maintaining and closing partnerships
  • Ability to assess issues/risks and effectively implement remediation measurements
  • Ability to understand contractual agreement structure, terms and obligations and be able to translate the terms in a way understood by senior management
  • Demonstrated strong project management and cross-function team management skills
  • Critical strategic thinker and highly analytical; ability to initiate, develop and implement new strategies and processes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working with senior management
  • Experience working in a matrix organization and demonstrated ability to influence
