As an associate director in cell culture technology transfer, you would lead a team of people responsible for the tech transfer of early- and late-stage biologics to internal and external manufacturing sites. The responsibility will include technology transfer of AstraZeneca’s COVID vaccine or COVID mAbs, as part of a larger team of tech transfer scientists.

You will present at internal departmental and cross-functional meetings, as well as to CMOs.

Summary of the group:

The Cell Culture Technology Transfer team works with development scientists to convert a process description into a working manufacturing process at sites all over the world. The team is responsible for the scale-up of cell-culture and harvest operations. The team supports some trouble shooting, especially related to scale-up, and usually early in the TT lifecycle. The team also supports Process Performance Qualification, and represents the development area to the manufacturing sites.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interpret process descriptions to operate in large scale manufacturing sites
  • Perform facility fit exercises
  • Recommend solutions to development or to the site to mitigate against scale up risks or facility fit issues

Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelors, Master's, or Ph.D in STEM related fields, including chemical, mechanical, civil, biochemical, electrical engineering, physics, biophysics, biochemistry, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and computer science.

Bachelors degree and 17+ years OR Masters degree and 15+ years OR Ph.D and 11+ years of relevant industry experience.

Required Skills:

  • Problem solving

  • Bioprocess Development or process tech transfer
  • Understanding and translating process descriptions to fit in new manufacturing plants
  • Conversational and technical English

Desired Skills:

  • Engineering or scientific skills related to bioprocessing
  • Project management
