About the role

The Viz. Platforms Service Lead role is responsible for leading, building and running the visualization technology platforms which are used by AZ engineers and business users. This role underpins the maintenance & governance of enterprise visualization platforms & application delivery functions by providing development and operational support services.We’ll rely on you to bring your technical acumen to assist the team continue to deliver world class solutions but also to grow regards development and delivery methodologies.

This role requires a global remit with up to 3 regions at a minimum of 40% of overlap time, will report into IGNITE – ED&AI – Global Head of Visualization Services Capability

Candidate Focus & Challenge

  • Provides management & technical expertise, direction and support to Visualization platforms support engineers and developers and help improve team efficiency & velocity

  • Deliver effective platform support & service management, ensuring key service metrics and KPIs are governed, maintained and improved progressively

  • Drive & manage effective multi-tenancy embracing shared platform approach, security, audit & compliance, licensing, funding & budgets, performance, usability, automation, product lifecycle, disaster recovery, infrastructure and software release version upgrades planning & execution

  • Establish Release and Quality Management processes and standards, ensure code quality and consistency, alignment to standards for both central and federated development workstreams

  • Provides management & technical expertise, direction and support to Visualization platforms support engineers and developers and help improve team efficiency & velocity

  • Works with preferred third-party suppliers & product vendors to provide strategic and innovative technology solutions aligned with AstraZeneca business needs as well as regulatory requirements

  • Works closely with Customers and Internal Stakeholders to address issues and ensure that objectives remain aligned to the business plans

  • Manage a globally distributed team, drive agile operations, work with peers to grow the capability with AstraZeneca’s Global Innovation & Technology Centers

  • Maintains awareness and knowledge of industry trends and proactively identifies and drives identification of opportunities to be demonstrated in the Visualization services and solutions

  • Plans all activities associated with implementation and maintenance of platforms & solutions

Candidate Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • 12 ~ 14 years of progressive Visualization platforms & applications build, maintenance and platform support experience and running production support operations

  • Engaged in e2e lifecycle activities of Visualization platforms & applications Design, Build, Test, Maintenance & Production Support

The Visualization Platforms Service Lead role essential and must have specializations include:

  • Service Management

  • Production Support Operations

  • Databases – Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redshift and so forth

  • Visualization Services & Tooling

  • Microsoft PowerBI

  • MicroStrategy

  • QlikView / QlikSense

It is desirable and good to have below listed skills & experience in relevant areas

  • Visualization Services & Tooling

  • SAP Business Objects

  • TIBCO Spotfire

  • CI / CD Tools – Jenkins, Bamboo

  • Code Version Management Tools – BitBucket [GIT]

  • e2e Software Lifecycle Management

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Any stream of engineering Bachelor’s degree

  • Must have managed global teams with strong People, Team Leadership and Management skills

  • Experience working in a global organization with multi-partners, partners and team members are spread out in a diverse culture environment

  • Good knowledge & experience e2e Software Lifecycle management & Service delivery and to be technically curious

  • Good knowledge & experience in IT Service Management - Change, Release, Incident and Problem Management processes

  • Good knowledge & experience working with RDBMS and Visualization services, technologies & platforms

  • Good knowledge & experience on Visualization platforms system administration, governance and application maintenance

  • Good knowledge & understanding of ITIL / SOx / GxP processes

  • Ability to learn and understand new technological trends & concepts

  • Good listening, presentation; written & verbal communication & partner management skills

  • Good analytical & logical reasoning ability with a proactive approach to problem solving and inter/intra personal skills

Desirable

  • Exposure to platforms observability & service health monitoring tools

  • Understanding of pharmaceutical / life-sciences business process & data models
