The Global Data Office (GDO) sits within Global Business Services (GBS), and provides Finance data governance and assurance functions alongside finance data management services. The GDO vision is to be a collaborative, trusted innovative and value led enterprise-level master data function enabling process excellence & timely decision making. The GDO has an ambition plan to transform the data management service provision for our current scope (Finance, Vendor & Customer Master Data) and to expand our services to other areas.
The Global Data Management Lead is responsible for leading a diverse team of in-house & outsourced data management specialists – the team is based in multiple global locations with centres in Warsaw, Kuala Lumpur, Dehli, Cluj and Guatemala. The role will drive the efficient and accurate creation and maintenance of diverse data sets (including Finance, Customer & Vendor master data) across multiple instances of SAP. You will establish a strong control environment that meets AZ principles, policies & standards and achieve compliance with AstraZeneca’s Finance Control Framework and SoX requirements.
You will also lead an ambitious change agenda that drives simplification, consistency and alignment across the data management lifecyle. You will work collaboratively with colleagues from across the GDO, including Master Data Design Leads & Data Custodians, to drive standardisation across the organisation in-line with AZ principles, policies and standards. Partner with enterprise change projects to ensure the change impact on the team is understood, resources planned and any transition to business as usual is successful achieved.
As a key member of the GDO leadership team you will contribute the future direction of the department, find opportunities to grow our service provision, build talent and capability across the GDO & lead team engagement activities to support making AZ a Great Place To Work.
Your new role!
Leading a diverse team of data specialists, provide appropriate levels of support to ensure that data management activities are delivered to a high quality standard and tight deadlines
The Data Management Team is located across multiple sites with in-house teams in Kuala Lumpur & Warsaw (approximately 30 AZ team members) and at outsourced locations in Delhi, Cluj and Guatemala (approximately 15 Genpact personnel)
Develop a deep understanding of the technical issues involved in the Data Management Team to enable productive collaboration across the internal and outsourced organization in order to deliver and drive the strategy forward
Establish standard operating procedures to support effective data management processes that deliver accurate, trusted master data in source systems. This will enable the organization to achieve process delivery excellence and quality information for reporting.
Provide demand management support to balance BAU run activity with one-off mass data cleanse requests, GDO continuous improvement initiatives and project demands
Manage key stakeholders to meet service expectations and build constructive relationship that brings the voice of the customer into future plans
Build and run a strong control environment across the team and ensure data management services follows the SoX / Finance Controls and IT data standards and to effectively managed risk
Pro-actively manage the development, coaching, succession planning and resilience of the team such that the correct level of resourcing and skills are in place and people are equipped to move on to progressive and challenging roles in the wider AZ teams.
Support the Outsourced Service Provider in the providing detailed guidance on requirements, undertake regular service reviews of the Service Provider team including metrics & contract compliance, and provide support to any complex transactions
Establish and maintain a clear set of KPIs and a value framework that monitors productivity and business value realization from the data management team.
To identify and aggressively promote opportunities to improve and standardise processes in the team
As a member of the Global Data Office Management team provide input to the organization in the form of leadership, shaping future direction and service expansion, team engagement activities and general running of the organization
Ad hoc project work as required within AZ functional team
Your essential qualifications, skills and experiences:
Strong education background (University Degree Level).
Excellent and current data management skills and knowledge are absolutely essential from practice or industry.
Hands on experience of managing a busy process team delivering to strict deadlines.
Excellent leadership skills particularly around people development and passion for customers.
A proven track record of delivering business value and awareness of service levels
Experience in a Shared Service Centre
Experience in implementing and leading change programs and/or managing teams through rapid change environments.
Fluent in English
Your desirable qualifications, skills and experiences:
Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context
Knowledge of Finance, Customer and Vendor master data management systems, data structures and principles
Experience of SAP
Project Management Skills
Excel / Power BI analytics capability
Process improvement (LEAN, Six Sigma) expertise preferred
