What you’ll do
Key responsibilities
Join AstraZeneca’s Medical team as a Medical Advisor and help deliver science-led value to patients, healthcare systems, and stakeholders. In this field-facing and cross-functional role, you will provide medical leadership for assigned products, shape and implement local medical tactics, and ensure ethical, compliant execution across the therapeutic area.
- Medical and ethical leadership: Provide authoritative medical support for assigned products and ensure activities meet legal and regulatory requirements within the therapeutic area.
- Patient-centric value: Maximize the product value proposition through medical and scientific projects, services, and expertise.
- Plan and execute: Develop medical programs and local tactics as part of the medical plan; coordinate implementation with cross-functional partners (PM, SM, MAM) and MSRs.
- Evidence generation: Increase brand value through non-interventional studies, real-world outcome research, and comparative effectiveness initiatives.
- KOL strategy: Identify, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with current and future Key Opinion Leaders, brand advocates, and cooperative groups; co-create and implement KOL plans with cross-functional teams.
- Scientific education: Deliver high-quality clinical and scientific presentations at sites and to key external audiences, including decision-makers and budget holders.
- Launch excellence: Support pre-launch activities for new indications/licensing with HTA, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing.
- Program delivery: Prepare territory medical tactics aligned to strategic/operational/cycle plans; ensure effective field implementation.
- Training: Develop and deliver targeted internal training for sales and marketing teams; support creation and review of promotional and training materials; lead objection handling guidance.
- Local evidence: Contribute to Local Clinical Investigation Programs including non-interventional studies, registries, investigator-initiated studies, pharmacoepidemiology, and medical-marketing projects.
- Compliance: Safeguard medical and ethical integrity across activities; act as nominated signatory where applicable.
- Cross-functional support: Provide support to Medical Information, Regulatory Affairs and Patient Safety (e.g., unsolicited/off-label requests, SmPC/API review, Risk Management Plans).
Your profile
- Medically qualified; university degree in medicine, pharmacology, natural or health sciences. Postgraduate degree (e.g., in these areas or business administration) is an advantage.
- Experience working in medical affairs as a Medical Advisor or medical Science Liaison, or clinical development; clinical experience (including non-physician roles, e.g., biochemistry) is an advantage.
- High-level medical knowledge; motivation to learn; commercial awareness.
- Advanced communication and presentation skills; strong project management; ability to work with large datasets; strong organization and time management.
- Customer orientation, results-focused, confident and enthusiastic.
- Fluent in Native Slovak with advanced English-speaking skills
