This position is responsible for controlling, planning and reporting activities reated to the Market Expansion countries in close cooperation with the Market Expansion Areas leaders and the AstraZeneca counterparts from International and EUCAN region. In addition, this role supports Alexion China business partnering and finance.  The role will report to the Head of Finance for EUCAN and International Alexion

Principal Responsibilities

  • Support the Market Expansion decision-making process by providing insightful business, cost, and financial information as they relate to local initiatives and objectives – that will include the development and management of ad-hoc reports and analyses for the Market Expansion regional lead and other leadership team members,
  • Lead the monthly financial reporting process; collect and provide a complete reporting (Revenue, Opex, Risks and Opportunities, etc.) monthly to the Market Expansion leads, by not only providing numbers but by providing insights on the business specific situations
  • Support EUCAN and Intl Commercial Finance team to prepare deeper analysis (PeQ’s, Penetrations per m, Volume, Pricing etc)
  • Lead the Phased Budget (PhB), Mid-term plan (MTP) and other key financial deliverables. Monthly forecasts and manage local budgets by working with AZ local MC’s team and Alexion corporate (pipeline etc).  Includes coordinating and providing guidelines to the Market Expansion on the financial deliverables from Alexion / AstraZeneca regional finance team such as owning the calendar timeline and customizing the presentation format to the Market Expansion regional lead
  • Support China Alexion business partnering and finance; includes incorporating Alexion processes as well in depth analysis on key performance metrics (PeQ’s, Revenues, Vials, Pricing etc)
  • Train and provide insights to the AZ Finance colleagues (Revenue models, Disease awareness support on the financial metrics)
  • Business partnering for the country/indication not yet transition to AstraZeneca local MC’s and ownership of the deliverables (PeQ’s, Revenues, Vials, Pricing etc)
  • Get a clear understanding of the RandOs happening at the Market Expansion levels and be able to provide your analysis on these
  • Being accountable for the OPEX forecast/actuals of Market Expansion and provide a reporting view on a monthly/quarterly basis.  Also, ensure purchasing process is in line with Company policy – including PRF timeliness and accuracy (create PRF and New Vendor Forms as necessary).  Handle invoices, credit/debit noted and prepare for further processing, monitor invoicing and payments at the legal entity level for shared market’s themes
  • Being able to work independently on various finance systems (e.g., Anaplan/Qlik Alexion)  
  • Ensure Compliance level of Market Expansion  as well as individual level are met to best industry standards. This is supported by training, coaching, and guidance to Alexion Pharma employees for those areas where their support is needed

Qualifications

  • 7-10 year experience in Finance / Accounting and FP&A position
  • First experience with Corporate Tax related topics
  • Experience in international matrix organizations
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry is a strong plus
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to work with others as well as independently
  • Very good computer skills, in particular Excel and PPT
  • Good knowledge of an ERP, SAP or similar
  • Fluency in English both written and oral mandatory.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business field
  • Accounting degree or other accounting qualification is a plus
  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA) preferred
