Associate Director, Data Management

Introduction to Role:
Join us at AstraZeneca's Alexion as an Associate Director of Data Management, where you will play a pivotal role in crafting the data management strategy that supports our business objectives. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of biomedical science, translating sophisticated biology into transformative medicines. 

Accountabilities:

• Leading RDU IT Data Strategy and establish shared approach across functions motivated by common science and commercial data models

• Evangelizing Data Asset and Product capabilities and accelerate adoption of Data Marketplace by business functions

• Partner with Alexion core business functions and support internal and external data sharing for structured and unstructured data

• Architecting and designing data foundational layer for sophisticated analytics solutions that meet business requirements, aligning with the overall strategic goals of the company

• Drive data management roadmap discussions across MRDM, Data Product and Strategy vertical and represent the org needs during mid and year-end financial planning

• Partner with Data Engineering team in defining and measuring data observability objectives and KPIs

• Communicating effectively with business stakeholders and senior management, providing strategic updates on the progress of key projects and their impact on business objectives

• Staying at the forefront of new technologies, introducing and training team members on these technologies, and incorporating them into the strategic analytics plan

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Master’s degree in computer science, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field

• 8+ years of experience in developing and deploying data foundation and engineering solutions

• Experience in standing up and implementing solutions using Data management platforms like MDM -  Veeva Network/Reltio, Data Quality & Governance system - Collibra and modern data storage layer – Snowflake, dbt & FiveTran

• Experience in deploying capabilities and services surrounding data observability and experience in agile project execution

• Detail-oriented, self-starter, able to work both independently and in a team environment

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related fields

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
