AstraZeneca is committed to advancing the science of oncology to deliver life-changing medicines to patients most in need. With a combination-focused pipeline that exploits the power of four scientific platforms to help address unmet clinical needs in a host of cancers.

  • Immuno-oncology - using the body’s immune system to help fight cancer

  • Tumour drivers and resistance - developing therapies that target specific mutations to attack cancer cells

  • DNA damage repair - targeting the DNA repair process to block tumour cells’ ability to reproduce

  • Antibody-drug conjugates - arming antibodies with cancer- killing agents for specific tumour targeting

AstraZeneca’s robust Oncology pipeline includes investigational therapies in varied stages of clinical development, from recently approved products to earlier-stage molecules in clinical trials. As of April, 2017 there were 15 Phase 3 registration studies, 16 Phase 2 studies and 27 Phase 1 studies. In addition, a further 10 studies were in Life Cycle Management.

Our differentiated strategy of combining IO Therapies is leading in key tumour types such as non-small cell lung cancer, head and neck cancer and bladder cancer, where combined checkpoint blockade will address a significant unmet need for patients who may not benefit from monotherapies. We believe our unique IO development program will play a critical role in continuing to redefine the cancer treatment paradigm, potentially replacing the need for chemotherapy.

The role:

Head of DS-8201 Europe Launch Execution

We are currently recruiting a Head of DS-8201 & Daiichi Sankyo Alliance Europe , reporting to the VP, Head of Europe, Oncology.This role will ensure strong collaboration with the Oncology BUDs, for Europe 5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK), as well as Non OBU markets and Canada.

This role will Co-Lead  with the Daichi Sankyo DS-8201 Europe Lead the EU JRCC  to ensure there is a joint commercialization plan for the brand as determined by the DSI -AZ JCC and  Collaboration agreement. This position will require outstanding leadership in all areas of franchise management, as well as alliance collaboration management.

He or she will develop and execute integrated business plans, in full collaboration with the Global Teams.

This role will also require demonstrated excellence in teamwork and collaboration. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee Alliance plan implementation & prepare all elements for JCC (Commercialization Plan and budget),

  • Leads Europe alliance reviews, provides leadership and oversight on tumor and pan-tumor specific market research plans/needs, forecasting,

  • Responsible for maximizing, market penetration, profitability, and new indication launch uptake

  • Co Accountable for achieving sales and budget forecasts for DS-8201, Review and update revenue forecasts and review commercialization budget at least on a quarterly basis,

  • Review and discuss the commercialization activities of AZ and DSI and coordinate with respect to products promoted under collaboration, including pre-launch and post-launch activities,

  • Provide a strong vision and leadership to Oncology Europe.

  • Build a strong collaborative relationship with AZ & DSI European teams

  • Working effectively with cross-functional partners including global, medical affairs, market access, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, market analytics, etc to successfully navigate the internal and external environments and deliver value to our customers


  • Minimum 10 years’ pharmaceutical experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ oncology experience.

  • Oncology marketing and sales experience

  • Experience in product/indication launch, marketplace assessment, development of disease state / product strategy, product positioning and brand marketing

  • Strong leadership, problem solving, teamwork, analytical, written/verbal communication, and presentation skills

  • Experience with collaboration, influencing without authority and working successfully with cross-functional teams 

  • Minimum 3 years’  people management experience

  • This position requires approximately 20% travel, and is based in Zug, Switzerland
