IT Project Manager - Data & AI

Digital Health, the point at which healthcare, technology, data and analytics converge is an area of great promise with the potential to improve the health of everyone. The recently launched Digital Health R&D area of AstraZeneca has the goal of improving patient experience and outcomes, and shortening the time it takes to bring life-changing medicines to patients, and will achieve this via three strategic priorities:

Transforming how we work through the use of Artificial intelligence (AI), automation and best-in-class digital technology to accelerate studies, improve data quality and reduce costs.

Redefining digital health through the use of digital, data and analytics to improve patient experience in trials and, more importantly, the overall outcome for those patients.

Reimagining healthcare to improve the overall patient journey, from earlier diagnosis, during treatment and post treatment.  (See link for more info).

You will be joining R&D IT - an outstanding organization at the forefront of the technology revolution in healthcare. It provides the technology, engineering, data and analytics expertise which delivers the Data Platform underpinning AstraZeneca’s Digital Health strategy. The ambition for this Platform is huge. We are looking for data, technology and change experts to join R&D IT that will ensure this ambition is met.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

You will ensure delivery aligns to this vision and business strategy, and that true business value is delivered to the customer as a result. Having a strong partnership with the business customer driving the demand for the solution is critical to success in this role.

The role views process as guidance and looks for innovative means to expedite delivery. You must ensure that delivery occurs with a sense of urgency and can be completed within the approved programme budget and timelines, whilst continuously assessing risk and balancing the need for flexibility and agility with conformance to standard methods and tools. Focus areas include stakeholder management across Business, IT, and partners, risk management and delivery of business benefit.

Experience in the following areas will be key:

  • Science, Technical or Business degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Project Management experience, ideally in a Pharmaceutical IT environment (ideally with experience of GxP and validation)
  • Experience in a scientific role or leading Laboratory Informatics or Clinical IT projects
  • Blue-chip or multinational company experience
  • Proven skills and experience delivering, leading and controlling large projects /programmes (planning, finance, IT quality documentation management and oversight, risk and issues management and reporting)
  • Agile delivery experience
  • Experience of working with onshore and offshore suppliers
  • Experience working in a global organization and across cultural boundaries
  • You will have a sense of ownership and enterprise leadership to delivery high quality solutions that solve business problems
