Job Description

With TA-specific domain expertise and sound business judgement, this Associate-Director-level role co-ordinates and executes the Competitive Intelligence function, working collaboratively with the broader CI team to shape future-proofed TA and product strategies and deliver sustainably differentiated brands.

With responsibility for supporting individual brands, franchises or disease areas the individual:

  • Co-ordinates, prioritizes and conducts research, analyses data and derive actionable insights
  • Leverages his or her strong written and oral communication skills to develop and share CI insights and recommendations that drive strategic decisions
  • Represents the voice of competitive intelligence within individual late development or commercial teams and GPTs

Typical Accountabilities

  • Establishes strong working relationships with late stage scientific and commercial leaders to define the range of problems and translate these complex business problems into intelligence hypotheses
  • Prioritises and designs research and analytical plans aligning with the CI information lead on knowledge capture
  • Conducts research, analyses data and derives actionable insights and recommendations that are shared with the CI function and late development and commercial teams to drive high quality, evidence-driven strategic decisions
  • Responsible for proactively flagging key trigger events in the competitive landscape and driving work on potential implications for AZ
  • Responsible for coordinating and leading scientific conference intelligence
  • Responsible for writing regular daily insight flashes for senior stakeholders
  • Responsible for the management of specific elements of CI budget and TA vendor relationships

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Science or commercially related degree
  • Substantial experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Deep expertise in Respiratory, Inflammation and Autoimmune TA alternatively CVRM TA
  • Prior, direct competitive intelligence experience
  • Ability to synthesise and integrate multiple sources of information to provide insights and recommendations
  • Business acumen
  • Research and analytics experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desirable

  • Advanced degree holders who have a focus in decision analysis, statistics, business or medicine/science.
  • Prior experience working directly with senior executives.
