To meet the needs of our growing pipeline and the external environment, AstraZeneca are investing in a new Centre of Excellence to support our Health Technology Assessment (HTA) efforts around the world. Based in our global Barcelona hub, we have exciting opportunities for skilled and ambitious statisticians to work with the following therapy areas: Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism; Respiratory & Immunology; and Vaccines & Immune Therapies.

This team will be part of a multi-disciplinary group, including payer evidence and market access specialists, HTA modelers, and programmers. You will be helping us to shape the payer environment by creating and delivering highly valued market access solutions that unlock the potential of our life-changing medicines for patients around the world.

What you’ll do:

  • With the growing use of HTA, including the upcoming Joint Clinical Assessment in Europe, you will play an important role in shaping what we do and the ways of working
  • Support market access strategies by providing critical input regarding appropriate statistical approaches to address specific questions of interest
  • Develop understanding of external studies based on design and results publications
  • Aid development of analysis plans to analyse internal or external information
  • Evaluate and compare results from internal and external studies, by applying indirect comparison methodology
  • Execute, interpret, and present analysis results
  • Ensure high quality analytics for use in global HTA submissions
  • Present at internal forums to increase awareness of statistical methodology

Essential requirements:

  • Programming expertise in R and/or SAS
  • Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts in an understandable way to colleagues with different areas of expertise
  • MSc in Biostatistics, Statistics, or Mathematics (with a substantial statistical component)

Desirable:

  • Experience from the pharmaceutical industry
  • Familiarity with drug development process
  • Understanding of health technology assessment and reimbursement process
